Abstract

The existing studies remain fragmented in the assessment of how logistics performance simultaneously affects economic outcomes and environmental degradation. In this regard, this study aims to address this gap by systematically reviewing empirical research on the logistics–economy–environment nexus. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, the review analyzes peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2023, retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science. The results reveal substantial inconsistencies in environmental measurement, a strong concentration of studies in developed economies, and limited integration of sustainability-oriented policy analysis. Based on these findings, the chapter proposes a conceptual framework to guide future empirical work. The policy implications emphasize the need for harmonized logistics sustainability indicators and integrated policy frameworks that align logistics efficiency with environmental targets. The novelty of this study is the comprehensive synthesis of logistics performance research through a combined economic and environmental perspective, offering a clear foundation for sustainable logistics policy-making. © 2027 selection and editorial matter, Md.
